Family Mediation:
In a nutshell
Family mediation is a conflict resolution method.
Mediators provide impartial and equitable support to couples, with or without children, in contexts of separation and divorce.
A comprehensive and neutral approach is encouraged, as mediators strive to explore the needs of each party and engage in conflict resolution, while taking into account the best interest of each family member.

The Process
Needs Assessment
Information is gathered to develop a wholesome understanding of the current context. The couples’ needs and priorities are explored and identified.
Negotiation and Problem Solving
The parties involved are accompanied as they navigate their new reality and various topics are discussed, such as: parenting time and decision-making, child and spousal support, division of property and reviewing a previous summary of mediated agreements.
Summary of Mediated Agreements
Following the mediation process, a document listing the points in which the parties agreed upon throughout the sessions is given to the couple. This summary does not have a legal effect on its own.
